Wonderoos birth-to-potty pocket nappy - 25% OFF SALE

While stocks last
In stock: 13 pale pink, 1 white

Includes 2 micro-terry inserts.

Our opinion: If you’re after an easy to dry, easy to put on real nappy, the Wonderoo is the nappy for you. It is a birth to potty nappy and can be used from around 10lbs; it will fit a good proportion of babies up to potty training. It is relatively slim fitting even on smaller babies, and comes in a variety of lovely colours. Not as good at containment as a two part system (ie. nappy plus seperate waterproof wrap). It’s an ideal nappy for nurseries as it’s very easy to put on.

Information from the Manufacturer

For more information go to www.wonderoos.com.

The Wonderoo is a ’one size’ nappy that will fit most babies from 8 - 35lbs and is one of the most convenient nappies to use as it has just ’one peice’ to put on, but two parts for easier washing and drying.  It is made from an outer layer of soft, waterproof PUL, attached to a soft stain resistant fleece liner.  These layers form a pocket, into which an absorbent insert or pad is placed.  The fleece liner stays dry, but allows the wetness to pass through to the insert inside, ensuring that the babies skin is dry and comfortable, whilst the PUL outer layer ensures that any wetness and solids stay inside.  The legs and waist of this nappy are gently elasticated meaning good containment.

Comfort

  • Lined with stretchy, soft ’stay-dry’ fleece layer to keep baby’s skin dry
  • Unique leg bindings to give maximum protection from red marks
  • No seams against baby’s body so suitable for even the most sensitive skin
  • Thickness of the nappy can be altered to the occasion to make sure baby is comfortable whether its playtime or bedtime
  • Trim fitting from newborn to toddler

Convenience

  • One piece to put on baby - no wraps, boosters - makes nappy changes quick and simple.
  • Fasten at the waist with a simple set of poppers
  • Quick to change for little wrigglers and on-the-go-toddlers
  • Close fit and unique leg casings make for an extremely reliable and leak-resistant fit
  • Lining releases solids easily into the toilet or flushable liners can be used
  • Modern fabrics which are fully machine washable
  • Extremely quick to dry naturally

Economy

  • Only one size to buy
  • Durable nappy which will wear well, wash after wash
  • Purchase a set of nappies & inserts and a storage bag or bucket and you never need to buy anything else! No special soaks, detergents or liners are necessary.

Wonderoos are a birth-to-potty nappy*. They are highly adjustable and will fit most babies from around 8lb - 35lb (3.5Kg - 16Kg).

How to use Wonderoos

Newborn setting Intermediary setting Largest setting*

 Step 1: Adjust the size

The first thing to do is adjust the size of the nappy to suit your baby. Adjusting your Wonderoos to fit your baby is very simple. You will see on the front of the nappy is a horizontal row of poppers to adjust the waist and two vertical sets of poppers to adjust the height of the nappy.

To adjust to the smallest size:

Fold the front of the nappy down and fasten popper "1" to popper "S" on both sides of the nappy.

To adjust to the Medium size:

For the medium size setting, fasten popper "1" to popper "m".

For the largest size:

To use Wonderoos on their largest size simply leave the height adjustment poppers unfastened.

Step 2: Add the Inserts

When you have adjusted the nappy height to the correct size for your baby add the inserts. These are the absorbent part of the nappy.

Put the insert into the pocket of the nappy with the narrowest end of the insert towards the front. Position the insert so that it is up to the front of the nappy and check it lies flat inside the pocket.

Use the small insert for your newborn or when the nappy is on its smallest setting. If you find this insufficient for your baby (babies do vary in their wetting habits) try the large insert, folded over at the front if necessary. When the nappy is on the medium or large setting use the larger insert on its own or with the smaller one poppered to it to boost absorbency where it is most needed. This makes for a very absorbent nappy.

Step 3: Put the nappy on baby

Lie baby on the open nappy with the wings at the back. Pull the front of the nappy up over baby’s tummy and fit into the legs. Fasten the both waist poppers on each wing of the nappy. Allow the fleece lining to stick out at the back of the nappy to increase baby’s comfort but check the absorbent insert is completely inside the nappy to prevent leaks. Check the leg cufs are giving a close comfortbale fit at the thighs - you can do this by running your finger around the inside of the legs of the nappy - it should be easy to do this but there should be no big gaps.

For a newborn waist setting the wing can be overlapped as in pictures A and B below. Select a snug but comfortable waist setting for your baby - you should be able to easily run your finger inside the waist of the nappy. Picture C shows a medium-range waist setting.

Ensure you do not use greasy nappy creams at it will permanently affect the absorbency of the nappy.

Add additional inserts at night. Hemp inserts are particularly good at night owing to their great absorbency. You will probably need to add additional aborbency and we recommend using a hemp wonder-full insert place underneath the usual inserts you use in the daytime. This will increase absorbency without making the nappy too bulky.

Washing Instructions for Wonderoo

FAQ about washing Wonderoos

Q: Do I need to wash the nappy and insert before use?
A: Yes, you will need to wash the nappy once before use. The microterry inserts should also be washed once before use. Hemp inserts will need washing at least three times before use (to remove the natural oils from the fabric) and you won’t get the best performance from them until they have been washed eight times or so. The hemp inserts also benefit from being tumble dried once prior to use if possible.

Q: Should I undo the height-adjusting poppers every time I wash?
A: No, you can wash your Wonderoos set at any height setting to save time.

Q Will I need any specially nappy soak or detergent?
No, choose a regular non-bio detergent which does not contain chlorine bleach. Chlorine bleach will damage the fabric over time. To reduce your ecological impact why not choose a more eco-friendly detergent such as Ecover.

Q Should I soak or hot wash the nappies to sanitise them?
No, soaking the nappies is not necessary and may cause them to smell. Washing at 40ºC is sufficient for everyday homewashing sanitation, but if your baby has diarrhoea or nappy rash wash at 60ºC to ensure all bacteria are killed off.

Q Should I add fabric softener?
No, don’t use fabric softener, dryer sheets or a two-in-one washing powder. It is not necessary and will coat the fabrics of the nappy, making them water repellent and causing leaks.

Q I haven’t changed a real nappy before - how do I get the poo off the nappies?
The fleece lining of the nappy will release solid poo easily by stretching it over the toilet. The more liquid stools of a milk-fed baby can be just rinsed off in the machine. When baby is older and the nappy is heavily soiled you can rinse it in the toilet flush while holding firmly to one corner. Alternatively you can use a flushable liner inside the nappies to allow you to just drop the liner and majority of the soiling in the toilet.

Q Can I dry my Wonderoos on the radiator?
No, drying in direct contact with high temperatures or tumble drying on hot will cause undue wear and tear on your nappies over time. Hang in a warm place such as near a radiator or boiler and if you tumble dry use a low heat.

Q: I have noticed that the nappies have started to smell unpleasant. What can I do?
A: Nappies should not smell unpleasant after a few hours on baby – if they do it is likely due to build up of detergent or inadequate cleansing/rinsing. To remedy this the nappies should be “stripped”: wash with the recommended amount of detergent for heavy soiling (ie more than usual), followed by a wash without detergent and rinse a couple of times or until the run-off is no longer soapy. This should solve the problem. If this is a recurrent problem try pre-washing the nappies with a generous cup of soda crystals before washing or doing an extra rinse after each wash.

Just in case you were wondering, do not iron your Wonderoos!
